Understanding Your Bill

Many consumers are overwhelmed and confused by our utility bills to the point that we do not even read them.

Given the number of service providers you may have to deal with information overload is common. In addition to trying to make sense of the various rates, fees and charges that appear on your bills making sure your bills, you should also make correct.

Here are a few things you can do:
  • Read and review your bill each month.
  • If you do not understand the charges on the bill question them.
  • Do this with a phone call to your utility company's customer service representative.  The toll free number is usually on your bill.
Many utility companies provide information on understanding your utility bill on their websites. The website address is usually on your bill. Log on to their site using your computer or at your local library.
