“Illness and subsequent medical bills caused half of the 1,458,000 personal bankruptcies in 2001,”according to a study published by the journal Health Affairs.

“Health is Wealth” what an understatement these days! If you have health insurance and have had an acute illness or become disabled for a long period of time with an ongoing need for medical assistance, your medical expenses can be considerable.

If you don’t have health insurance they can be devastating while dealing with medical bills that follow an illness can be more stressful than the illness itself.

In America there are 45 million people who are uninsured. Not having insurance is a very stressful for individuals and families while being sick is big business for insurance companies. On top of that, making sure you are not overcharged for services can add more stress to the situation. No wonder so many people face personal bankruptcy as a result of illness and related medical bills.
