TRWIB, Inc's Financial Literacy Program is possible through a partnership with Advance Learning, LLC. Through and interactive, online training curriculum, participants can be trained and certified in 7 aspects of financial literacy. Topics covered include: -Introduction to Personal Finance: banking, managing your money, creating a budget, -Mastering Personal Finance: identifying and prioritizing needs and goals, factors that influence financial planning-Employment: Sources of income, taxation and benefits-Running a Home and Raising a Family: rent vs. buy, insurance and bills, planning for children-Seeking Help and Advice: sources of advice and how to file complaints-Long-Term Saving and Investment: goals, long-term investments, retirement-The Global Economy: markets, choices and impositions.
Materials / Publications
The training program is internet based, with classroom instruction available at some community based organizations. There are accompanying worksheets and supplemental materials.
Mission
The Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board's mission is to advance and support an integrated and accountable workforce development system in the city of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County.We do this by:-Chartering and overseeing a network of one-stop centers, known as PA Career-Link, that delivers employment and training services to job seekers and employers;-Creating and preserving local job opportunities through industry partnerships and other employer-focused initiatives;-Certifying training providers that prepare individuals for high priority occupations;-Cultivating the emerging workforce through youth development activities; and-Identifying, communicating and building consensus around key public policy issues that impact the local labor market.
