Description of Program(s)
Pre-purchase counsels potential homebuyers on becoming mortgage ready and advises on mortgage product. Choice Default & Delinquency Screening & Referrals determine clients position in the Default/Foreclosure process and refers clients to the appropriate counseling agency. Home Buyer Education Workshop: offer workshops which teach potential homeowners the mortgage process from shopping for the loan to closing; Home maintenance and budgeting are also included. Predatory Lending Workshop: A workshop designed to inform both homeowners and potential homebuyers about any loan where the borrower's expenses cannot be justified on the basis of the lender's risk and cost.

Program Effectiveness
A Our HUD 9902 reports that 141 persons or families bought homes during Fiscal Year ?05 ? ?06; 150 persons received homebuyer education through our workshops and 14 persons received a home equity loan or home repair loan through counseling with MVI and 9 senior received HECM (reverse mortgage) loans by getting their mandated HUD HECM counseling certificates through MVI-HC. Other positive final and intermediate results were achieved through our housing counseling plan. A request for MVI?s Final 9902 will be honored if requested. MVI is also the lead agency in the Heinz Housing Counseling Collaboration which includes Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc., Action Housing Inc.,, the Urban League of Pittsburgh, and the Fair Housing Partnership of Greater Pittsburgh. We are bringing quality counseling and education services to the homeowners and potential homebuyers in the metro Pittsburgh area through all the programs offered by all our member agencies.
