Asset Development Initiative Programs include: The Financial Empowerment Series, consisting of 4 basic financial literacy workshops focused on setting financial goals, budgeting techniques, understanding credit and credit repair, avoiding predatory lending, and developing an investment strategy; Family Savings Account Program, a 1:1 matched savings program for individuals with low to moderate incomes seeking to save for home ownership, home repair, post-secondary or vocational education for self or child, or small business start-up; YW Enterprising Women, combining business training, technical assistance, micro-loans, networking and mentors to support women with low to moderate income seeking to start or expand micro enterprise.
Materials / Publications
The Asset Development Initative offers a variety of interactive financial literacy workshops on topics such as budgeting, banking, avoiding predatory lending practices, credit and credit repair, and investing. Presenters include experienced staff and community leaders. Workshops are held several times per year at convenient locations and times. The curriculum is customized to our audience by blending several existing curricula to fit the specific needs of our clients. Participants are provided with a free credit report. The curriculum utilized for the YW Enterprising Women business planning course is Foundations. This is a 25-hour learner-centered course which takes participants through the business planning process in easy to manage steps. The end result is a simple, yet comprehensive business plan. All materials are currently offered in hardcopy only.
