Food Budgeting Potluck and Open Mic

Bring a recipe card and a dish to share that costs less than $10 to make to this community event and share ideas and stories about how to slice your food bill. Community member and food guy Chris Belasco will share his cooking advice and secrets on how to get the best deals on quality ingredients and Rachel Booth and Heather Walsh of ‘Living Pittsburgh’ will talk about their website Living Pittsburgh and how she recently cut her food bill in half by following some very simple shopping tips. Darcy Trunzo coordinator of the Financial Education Consortium of Southwestern Pennsylvania will be on hand to answer questions about the FEC and to enroll “Pittsburgh Savers” Along with Chris Conroy of Parkvale Bank. MoneyWi$e Part 3: Saving Money!

Parents participating in this workshop will discuss basic facts about saving money. They will explore strategies for saving money. Information and materials about Pittsburgh Saves Week and how to become a Pittsburgh Saver will be distributed. The importance of the parent’s role in teaching children about money will be continued. The workshop will conclude with a hands-on parent-child activity to help children learn about saving money.

Savvy Saver’s Club

In this hands-on forum you will become a “Pittsburgh Saver” and learn with other participants how to plan and budget for meals, and household expenses.
